Summit Point golf course: A taste of best of the world

The rolling hills of Lipa City have become the site of a truly unique golf course. With course shaping and grassing right on target to complete the course by next year, the Summit Point Golf and Country Club gives local golfers a taste of some of the best golf holes in the world.
The "World 18" concept, which is being done under the direction of renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones II, features a sampling of 18 popular golf holes from all over the world that have been made to blend into the local terrain.
"We want our golfers to experience the playing characteristics of these great holes," says the prime mover, former Board of Investments governor Conrad Leviste. "While we may not be able to create an exact replica of the ocean at the Pebble Beach, for example, golfers who step into the course will get the feel of the length, contours and the strategy involved in the play of each hole."
Robert Trent Jones II had a major hand in choosing which holes to feature in the course. His extensive experience in golf course design and architecture virtually guarantees a golfing experience that will be unique in itself.
Among the chosen holes are the 10th, 11th and 12th holes or better known as "Amen course" of Augusta National, the 18th hole of Harbour Town in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina which is better known as the Lighthouse hole, the 14th of St. Andrews and the 10th hole of Pebble Beach.
Summit Point Golf and Residential Estates is a joint project of the Summit Point and Development Corporation and the Sta. Lucia Realty Development, Inc. and, with almost half of the back nine now shaped and grassed, Leviste is optimistic that the construction of the golf course will meet its completion targets.
The site is projected to be the last golf course construction in Lipa City as local restrictions have come into effect allowing only two courses in the city. It is located next to the LIMA Industrial Estate, which is rapidly becoming one of the fastest developing industrial zones in the Southern Luzon area.
The 220-hectare property will have residential lots along the golf course where members can relocate to and enjoy the cool climate Lipa City. The project also boasts of a Country Club and a golf clubhouse, both designed by G & W Architects.
Traveling to-and-from Summit Point Golf and Residential Estate and Manila is much faster and convenient with the completion of the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR).
