Im sure youre all excited to find out who the 23 winners are in our Christmas contest. Cant blame you. The prizes to be given away are fantastic, thanks to our generous sponsors.
The correct answers to the three questions in our contest are: (1) Sta. Lucia Realty, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors Cup champion this year, (2) Danny Ildefonso, the seasons PBA MVP, and (3) Doug Collins, Michael Jordans coach with the Washington Wizards in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
We drew 1,304 entries from all over the country. Not a bad response, considering readers only had 9 days within which to send their entries. We announced the contest last Nov. 28 and the cutoff for submission was Dec. 7. Majority of the entries came from Metro Manila. There were also entries from Iloilo, Tacloban, Baguio, Camarines Sur, General Santos City, Cebu, Ilocos Sur, Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas, Zamboanga City, La Union, and Negros Occidental, among others.
About 90 percent of the entries chose San Miguel Beer to win the Third Conference crown. Pop Cola had a few votes and the rest went to Sta. Lucia. Ildefonso was the runaway choice in the MVP poll. Others who were named in entries included Dennis Espino, Danny Seigle, and Ali Peek. No problem on the identity of Jordans coachCollins was the unanimous pick of all the entries.
Well announce the names of the lucky 23 in tomorrows column. Winners will be invited to claim their prizes at The STAR office this Friday at 4 p.m.
