Multi-titled car racer Angelo Barretto, the 2000 Philippine Sportswriters Association Driver of the Year, will be pitting talents against the worlds best car races in the forthcoming 2001 Guia race of the Macau Grand Prix set Nov. 18.
The lone Filipino competitor in the field carrying the countrys colors on an AAI-Castrol Toyota Altezza, Barretto is being backed up by Castrol GTX Magnatec, Toyota Manila Bay, EBC Brakes, Casio G-Shock and No Fear.
The Guia Race of Macau Grand Prix is the premier touring car event in the Asia-Pacific region and is part of the Asian Touring Car Challenge (ATCC) of the Asian Festival of Speed.
The event has always been a showcase for world champions and the tight and twisty street circuit of Macau played witness to the rise of the biggest names in motorsports. Among them are Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, Jacques Villavueve, Juan Pablo Montoya and Jarno Trulli.
