SMC, Star stretch win streak to 3

San Miguel Corp. and The Philippine Star pulled off contrasting victories yesterday to remain unbeaten in the Philippine Star Friendship League at the Meralco Gym.

SMC struggled past two-time Bibato champion ABS-CBN, 82-79, despite a combined 49-point output of Allan Caidic and Samboy Lim while The Star, managed by Kevin Belmonte and supported by Adidas, coasted to a 73-37 victory over United Coconut Planters Bank.

With identical 3-0 cards, SMC and Star dispute the lead in a keenly-awaited match on Nov. 10.

Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. stayed within striking distance of the joint leaders as it repulsed the Biboy Ravanes-mentored RFM Swift, 86-75, for its second win in three games. — Joey Villar
