XTour draws record 429 competitors

-
Despite heavy rains during the early part of the morning, the Philippine leg of ESPN’s Asian XTour kicked off yesterday with the biggest turnout of athletes ever at the Goldcrest Parking Center at the Glorietta Mall in Makati.

Registrations reached a record high of 429 athletes coming from as far as Baguio City as the heavy rains and gusty winds did nothing to dampen the spirits of Filipino athletes and enthusiasts.

Entrants to the Junior X division (aged 14 and below) totaled 27 while entrants to the Main X division were 402. Curiously, the Main X drew three female competitors – Ann Constantino, 23, and Jenny Lyn Mansala, 22, in skateboarding and Genevieve Legaspi, 19, in the aggressive in-line skating category.

Other events on tap in the Manila XTour presented by Toyota are bicycle stunts in park course and bicycle stunts in flatland.

The final round is set today also at the Goldcrest Carpark in Glorietta.

The Manila XTour, supported by Toshiba, Polaroid, Milo and the Ayala Center, serves as the Philippine eliminations for the Asian X Games Qualifier IV in Kuala Lumpur in January next year.
