FedEx Laguna routs TPG Davao, 142-107

FedEx Laguna demolished TPG-Davao, 142-107, yesterday in the second phase of the 2001 MBA season at the San Luis Sports Complex in Sta. Cruz.

Chris Clay cut the Eagles to pieces with his daredevil inside moves, exploding with 20 of his game-high 39 points in the fourth quarter when the Lakers finally broke loose in the record-setting win.

FedEx Laguna’s total output set a new mark in the most number of points scored in a game after shattering the 140-output scored by first phase champion Andok’s San Juan over TPG-Davao last June 7.

The win was the Lakers’ third win in five outings as they kept their hold of the No. 3 spot in the Northern Conference behind the LBC Batangas Blades (5-0) and the Knights (2-1) and ahead of the Nueva Ecija Patriots (2-3).

In the second game, Cebuana Lhuillier banked on crucial defensive stops by Joey Santamaria and big baskets by Peter Naron as it stunned Negros, 83-78, for its first win in three games. The Slashers slipped to 3-1. - Joey Villar
