STAR hosts Friendship League

The Philippine STAR will be hosting an invitational basketball tournament, dubbed The Friendship League, starting Oct. 13, according to its president and CEO, Miguel Belmonte.

Six teams will be participating in the initial staging of the tournament, namely the RFM all-Stars, led by its president/CEO Joey Concepcion; Team ABS-CBN, recent champion of the broadcasters league; selections from Bankers Athletic Association members RCBC and UCPB; the powerhouse team from San Miguel Corporation, which boasts of three ex-PBA veterans; and host The Philippine Star, five-time Inter-Publication champion.

The games will be held on Saturdays at the Meralco Gym.

The Friendship League, the first of its kind, will be an annual basketball tournament open to all Philippine Star advertisers and friends.
