Nueva Ecija and Negros dispute the solo lead when they clash in the MBA Second Phase at the Tinga Gym in Taguig today.
Though the Patriots won their first two games, the Slashers (1-0) would surge ahead with a 3-0 scorecard if they prevail in the 3 p.m. encounter.
The Slashers of coach Robert Sison are expected to draw firepower from Nationals John Ferriols, Ruben dela Rosa and Jomar Tierra, with support coming from Cid White, Reynel Hugnatan, Johnedel Cardel and Dennis Madrid. Nueva Ecija, now being mentored by Arlene Rodriguez, beat Socsargen and Cebuana Lhuillier in its first two outings.
Reigning national titlist Andoks San Juan tries to bounce back from an early loss when it tangles with the cellar-dweller Socsargen at 5:30 p.m.
San Juan, also the First Phase champion, was beaten by Negros, 111-103, Wednesday night in the resumption of the conference at the San Juan Gym.
The Knights, however, remain the solid favorite against the Marlins who are now being handled by Francis Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, former head coach of the Davao Eagles, took over from Boyzie Zamar, who resigned due to conflicting commitments.
