Sportswriting finalists bared

The PBA Press Corps announced the 10 finalists of the recently concluded 2001 PBA PC Sportswriting contest joined by more than 40 collegiate sportswriters last July 13 and 20 at the Philsports Arena.
The finalists of the annual contest, sponsored by Tanduay Gold Rhum, are Mauro Anthony Cabading III, Jose Paolo Lacdao and Hansel David Co of La Salle-Taft; Noli Cruz of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM).
Dexter Mantilla, Darrell Dizon and Christian Bautista of University of Santo Tomas (UST); Elmer Manuel and Jeremy Malipot of Lyceum of the Philippines; and Khalil Manubay of College of St. Benilde.
Entries of the 10 finalists will undertake a second phase of judging in which sports editors of leading newspapers will select the top three winners of the contest.
The first prize winner will receive P5,000, second placer is P3,000 and third place winner will get P2,000. The top three finalists will also receive handsome trophies while the rest of the finalists will be given a certificate.
Awarding will be announced later.
