Jojo Silverio of Standard Insurance-KACE Electronics-Team Toms dominated both races of the third leg of the six-leg Philippine Asian Formula 3 Challenge (F3) during the Casino Filipino Grand Prix at the Batangas Racing Circuit Sunday.
Teammates JP Tuason and Roland Hermoso of the Standard Insurance KACE Toyota Alabang team supported by Petron finished first and second, respectively, in race 5 of the Formula Toyota Cup (FT). Hermoso dominated both races of the first leg last April.
Tuason said the sixth race was his "best race ever trading the lead many times with Enzo Pastor" who edged Tuason 1.12 seconds, finishing 44.164 seconds behind Silverios 20:45.302 total time in the re-started 14-lap combined F3-FT race. Kirk Arambulo trailed third in both rounds.
Philip Alvendia won second in both AF3 races. International racing veteran Mark Goddard and Pepon Marave split third place in races 5 and 6, respectively. Marave actually finished second behind Silverio in race 5 but was "DQ" with an underweight car.
Goddard and Richard Joson retired in the second lap of race 6 due to car failure. Race 6 re-started with only Silverio, Alvendia and Marave left in the AF3 field.
Silverio said "Its a good win ! I got a big overall lead. Im now comfortable with my car, thanks to my team. Im sure I can still improve a lot having sized up my competitors," said Silverio; whose best 16-lap time in the 2.873 km BRC track is 23.45.385 fastest laptime of 1:13.674 in race 5.
