Slashers seek repeat over Lakers at home
July 13, 2001 | 12:00am
What they did on the road, the Negros Slashers try to duplicate at home when they clash anew with the FedEx Laguna Lakers in the Metropolitan Basketball Association First Phase today.
The Slashers conquered the Lakers, 103-93, right in Sta. Cruz, Laguna last July 1 and they have good reasons to go for a repeat in their rematch at the St. La Salle Gym in Bacolod.
Negros hopes to bolt out of a three-way tie on top with Andoks San Juan and Cebuana Lhuillier as it tackles FedEx Laguna at 5:30 p.m. Batangas and Socsargen collide at 3 p.m. over at the Tinga Gym in Taguig.
The Slashers are currently tied with the Knights and the Gems with identical 7-3 win-loss records while the Lakers are at fifth with a 3-4 card.
John Ferriols and Johnedel Cardel will be out to atone for poor showings in their 81-84 loss to Andoks San Juan in their last game. But they are likely to face tough challenges from Jeffrey Flowers and Chris Clay. Joey Villar
