Locals deliver for Red Bull

- Joey Villar, Nelson Beltran -
Red Bull’s spirited locals picked up the slack as import Antonio Lang struggled on the offensive end and the Thunder went on to beat an undermanned but fighting Shell side, 94-82, to gain solo third place in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup eliminations at the Araneta Coliseum last night.

Davonn Harp scored a game-high 20 points and three other local Red Bull players also finished in double figures, more than making up for Lang’s listless performance as they notched their third win in five outings.

Lang, averaging 30 points and 11.5 rebounds, tallied only 19 points and six rebounds but his debuting Shell counterpart Tremain Wingfield did even worse , making only 16 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the field and committing five turnovers. The Turbo Chargers suffered their fourth straight defeat.

"Lang was a little off offensively and I have to give credit to the team. They dished out a total team effort," said Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao.

With his job on the line, Kevin Freeman fired 32 points as led Tanduay to an 87-81 victory over erstwhile unbeaten Alaska in the second game.
