Salazar nips foe, makes boxing finals

ATHENS, Greece Lhyven Salazar assured Team Caltex Philippines of a silver medal as he beat Roudlk Kazanjian of Cyprus in their light flyweight showdown in the 22nd International Cup Acropolis boxing championships here at the Sporting Hall.
But the victory did not come easy for the 22-year-old Salazar, who nipped his rival via countback.
Leading, 13-9, after three rounds, Salazar, lowered his guard a bit too soon, enabling Kazanjian to counter and forge a 15-15 count after the final bell. Luckily, the countback had him winning, 65-54, for landing more punches majority of the fight.
