Silver Story eyes TCs second jewel
June 10, 2001 | 12:00am
Silver Story guns for the second jewel of a projected Triple Crown sweep as he heads the big field in the Jaime V. Ongpin Cup today, a roster that includes eight chargers he dominated in the first leg and four showing no hints at foiling his bid for racing immortality.
The bad tracks at San Lazaro may slow down the prized Patrick Uys grey colt but experts believe Silver Story will have another romp the way he routed the field in the kickoff leg of this years series, the Cojuangco Cup.
Sky Hawk, Batangas Entry, Hammerhead, Ilocandia Slew, Staunch Ally, Silver Rose, Gutmoore and Lord of All will try again to foil Silver Storys bid and will get some sort of help from the new entries in Deputy Royale, Gifted Guest, Kitty Hawk and Tumataginting.
More than P1.6-million in prizes are at stake in the event, a race traditionally held in honor of the late Finance Secretary Jaime V. Ongpin. Ramon Romualdez
