Wind Blown humbles lean field in Prieto Cup

-
Outstanding favorite Wind Blown showed too much class over the field yesterday when he ruled the 24th staging of the Founders’ Day stakes race – also known as the Prieto Cup – at the San Lazaro Hippodrome.

Hermie Esguerra’s Wind Blown, running second behind Project Genesis in the early goings, took the lead for good passing through the clubhouse turn and increased his lead down the backstretch en route to a convincing seven-length victory over Super Sharp.

Wind Blown sold P889,105 out of the total sales of P982,510 with quartertimes of 17-24-25.5-25.5-28.5 for 2:00.5 over the 1,900-meter course.

Coming in third was Master Ijhay, followed by Materiales Fuertes and Project Genesis at last.

Meanwhile, in the Tab Philippines Cup, Paolo Mendoza’s charger, Golden Eagle, made a big move in the last 300 meters and charged by the inner rail to outlast pacesetter Sonata by two lengths.

Coming in third was My Preperido, followed by Ilocandia Slew, Hammerhead and Divine Magic in last position.

Golden Eagle sold P118,740 out of the total sales of P1,057,275 and registered quartertimes of 17-24-25-28.5 for 1:34.5 in the 1,500-meter race. — R. Romualdez
