White Plains draws first blood in Intervillage

-
White Plains drew big games from its starters as it pooled a 290-point aggregate to seize control in the Alaxan Intervillage golf circuit which kicked off its four-division series with the Intervillage North at Wack Wack’s east course last week.

Four players scored 38 points apiece under the Stableford scoring system over the par-72 layout with Ronaldo Abilla, Nano Imperial, Neo Asistio and Renato Sawit putting in motion White Plains bid at the start of the three-month qualifiers among exclusive residential villages in Quezon City.

With Efren Panganiban tossing in 37 points, Sonia Ongkiko and Tony Jarina chipping 34 apiece and Philip Del Carmen scoring 33, White Plains took an 11-point lead over Corinthian in the 12-to-play, eight-to-count format event sponsored by Alaxan. White Plains skipper Tomas Pedrosa, a 12-handicapper, didn’t count with a 27.

Only one player — Richard Go — churned out the maximum 38 points for Corinthian although two — George Sy and Rene Chua — turned in 37 piece and Jun Angeles and Cholo Cayanga scored 35 each. Juanito Go had a 33, while Bong Tan and Ferdinand Aguila each had 32.

Philam Homes stayed within striking distance of the top two teams with a 277 with Waling Kintanar and Amadeo Ungson pacing the team’s charge with identical 38 points. Other scorers for the team were Dedo Sioco (34), Richie Lazaro (34), Nicolo Kintanar (34), Efren Cruz (34), Ben Jacinto (33) and Fred Ramoso (31).

The long-running village series, now on its 10th year, is backed by BJ Marthel International, Mastercard, PinoyAuctions, ICTSI, STI Colleges, Callaway and Odyssey, Pisanti golfwear and Menzi and Co.

The Intervillage East, composed of villages in San Juan, Mandaluyong, Pasig and Marikina, begins its series on April 19, the Intervillage Makati is set April 26, while south sector will be played May 7.
