Giv cagers seek 3rd win versus Ana

Giv Beauty Soap tries to stretch its win run to three as it clashes with a resurgent Ana Freezers even as Welcoat and Pharmaquick collide in a duel of struggling teams at resumption today of the PBL Chairman’s Cup at the Makati Coliseum.

Victories over La Salle-Osaka Iridology and Pharmaquick have propped up the spirit of the unfancied Soap Masters with coach Nat Canson believing their 5:30 p.m. game with the Freezer Kings will further test his wards’ mettle and character.

"Nandoon na ang consistency but I think Ana Freezers will be a big test for us," said Canson, who is expected to rely again on Egay Billiones, Edwin Bacani, Francis Sanz, Ogie Gumatay and Marlon Legaspi.

The Paint Masters, on the other hand, snapped a two-game losing skid with a 76-64 triumph over the Hapee Teeth Sparklers while the Drug Specialists did the same with a 61-52 win over the Montaña Jewellers Saturday for a four-way tie with Hapee and Montana at 1-2.

But Welcoat will have its hands full against Pharmaquick, whose bid here is anchored on three former pros —Braulio Lim from Purefoods in the PBA and Bruce Dacia and Omanzie Rodriguez from San Juan in the MBA. — J. Villar
