Yulo-Tabhan tandem rules Yulo golfest

Luigi Yulo and partner Allan Tabhan put together two days of impressive golf and scored 178 to win with a whopping 16-point margin in the 23rd Jose Yulo Memorial tournament at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club last weekend.

The Yulo-Tabhan partnership produced 91-87 to win the overall title and the top prize, a Sony Wega CTV21" and trophy each in the two-day tournament held in honor of the former House speaker.

Nobody won the Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 GLS and a Mitsubishi Adventure, which were up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes on designated holes, and a Maxfli Revolution set put up by Las Vegas Pro Shop for an ace on No. 13 of the south layout.

Antonio Gonzales and Ding Ramilo were second with 161 and each won a Pioneer Audio Compo plus trophy, while overall third went to Tiburcio Carandang and Tony Manalo (160), who each won a Pioneer Mini Component and trophy.

Jose Mari Hechanova and Iggy Clavecilla won team honors for low gross with 295, while Solomon Gines won the low gross category and Michio Akutsu the low net.

Ninety-four teams composed of 188 members and their guests competed in the 36-hole tournament sponsored by the Yulo family, Mitsubishi Motors Phil., Diamond Motors Phils., Jun Cedo of Las Vegas Shop, Pro-line Sports Center, Donald Marshal of Northwest Airlines, Allan Tabhan of Panwest Sports, Inc., Shopwise Supercenter, Marina Sales, Nestle Phils, Inter A’s Corp., and Outback Steak House.

Rolando Avante won the grand raffle prize, a Sony Wega CTV29" during the awarding ceremonies.

West Pearson (best effort team), Jose H. Mercado (early bird, second day), Ernesto Yabut team (best in uniform), Harumi Ieda (lone lady participant).
