Rosales trails leaders by 4

Jennifer Rosales birdied two of the last four holes to salvage an even-par 70 at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Florida Thursday (Friday in Manila) to trail joint leaders Wendy Ward and Jackie Gallagher-Smith by four strokes at the start of the LPGA Office Depot Pro-Am.

It was another fine start by the 22-year-old Rosales, who opened her bid in the first two legs of this year’s LPGA Tour with impressive rounds only to falter in the closing holes. She finished 51st in the LPGA YourLife and missed the cut in the Subaru Memorial last week.

Her 70 was four shots behind the 66 turned in by Ward and Gallagher, who posted a one-shot lead over Laura Diaz, who shot a 67 on the Red Course.

While Rosales found herself bunch with six others in 14th place, compatriot Dorothy Delasin returned to the circuit with an up-and-down 73, marked by an eagle-3 on the par-5 No. 5 and marred by a triple-bogey 8 on the par-5 No. 10.

Delasin, who received her PSA Athlete of the Year award here last week, also had three bogeys against a lone birdie for a round of 35-38.
