Sicat wants to end PWA row

Rodones Sicat, hoping to resolve problems confronting the Philippine Weightlifting Association, yesterday announced he was calling a general assembly meeting on Jan. 13 at the PWA office in Manila.
The problem is whether the group of Narciso Aliño will attend the meeting. Narciso Aliño and son Mark reportedly led the ouster move versus Sicat late last year.
Sicat said he sent Aliño a notice of the special meeting through mail with PWA secretary-general Francisco Offemaria set to call Aliño to confirm his attendance.
"Basically, we would discuss in this meeting a lot of matters which include the discussion and resolution of the internal problems confronting the association," said Sicat.
"Iyung internal problem na sinasabi dito sa agenda, kasama na siya (Aliño) doon," Sicat added.
Representatives of the member clubs, members of the board of trustees and representatives from the Philippine Olympic Committee are expected to discuss the officials' annual report band PWA's calendar of activities this year. Joey Villar
