It was a graceful exit for the Pampanga-based Blue Pelicans as they wound up their campaign with a 1-4 card while dealing Gringo-Barkadahan, playing with only six men, their fifth straight setback in as many games.
Vincent John Santos top-scored for the team with 28 points, four rebounds and eight assists as University of Assumption controlled the tempo throughout.
Gringo-Barkadahan only came close at 51-54 midway the third quarter but the effort took its toll on them as Santos ignited a 9-0 blast that pulled the Blue Pelicans away at 63-51.
They later led as many as 13, 85-72, with 49 seconds to go.
Roel Galura added 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals as University of Assumption earned 20 points on fastbreaks, 15 on second chance attempts and 24 points off Gringo-Barkadahans 23 turnovers.
Ronnie Tan led with 20 points while Ian Castillo delivered 17 for Gringo-Barkadahan. Rogelio Longalong came up with 16 points, Bong Vallejo sank 14 while Carlo Altamirano had 11. Ali Argonza, who came late for the game, only had three rebounds.
