Leading Horse of the Year candidates Wind Blown and Gold Edition head the stellar cast of runners in the much-awaited PCSO Presidential Gold Cup set Dec. 10 at the San Lazaro Hippodrome.
The big event, which carries a guaranteed pot of P2.6 million, features six other seasoned track campaigners slugging it out over a distance of 2,000 meters. Challenging the two early favorites are noted handicappers Greely Good, High Roller, Misty Rose, My Preperido, Phenomenal and Tough Cookie.
The 28th running of the Presidential Gold Cup was confirmed by Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chairperson Rosario Lopez, the principal organizer of the event in coordination with Philippine Racing Commission chairman Benedicto Katigbak.
"The annual running of the Presidential Gold Cup, under the auspices of the PCSO, stands as a recognition not only of horse racings wide-ranging contribution in terms of government revenue and employment, but also of its significant connection to the noble task of raising funds for charity as a partner of the PCSO," said Lopez.
Wind Blown and Gold Edition are coming off rousing victories in the recently concluded MARHO Breeders Cup Championships at the Santa Ana Park and are expected to dominate the field of seasoned campaigners.
The winner is guaranteed to receive P1.5 million. Ramon Romualdez
