Taguibao wins 3 golds in World powerliftfest

Antonio Taguibao won three gold medals and one bronze in the 2000 World Master Powerlifting Championships in Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic recently.
Taguibao won two golds in the Master A category (40-49 years old) by lifting 165 kg. in the squat event and 190 kg in the deadlift and won the third gold with a total of 435 kg. He won the bronze with a lift of 80kg in the benchpress.
Renato Dio, a fitness trainer, placed 13th among 20 competitors in the 75 kg weight class. His lifts were 235 kg in the squat, 140kg in the benchpress and 230 kg in the deadlift for a total of 605 kg.
The Czech competition, held Oct. 17-21, is the first international tournament of the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines, which was was supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.
