Gueco emerges top angler

Ronrico Gueco, a PAL international flight steward, bested a 67-angler field in six heavy tackle tournaments to win the Philippine Game Fishing Foundation (PGFF) Heavy Tackle Angler of the Year (AOY) crown recently. The event was supported by American Technologies, Inc. and Golden Maple Industrial Corp., PGFF president Rey Buencamino said.

Gueco, the first and only PGFF Hall of Fame awardee winning three AOYs in 10 years of tournament fishing, led Bert Lingayo in all categories — light, heavy and overall scores.

Tournament director William King placed second followed by Willie Yap in third place while teammate/co-sponsor ATI head Boy Co hooked five non-qualifying catch below 3-kg each. Benedict Lim and Gueco bagged the team championship. King and Tony Tycangco won runner-up team honors.

The light tackle 11th AOY leg is set Nov. 11-12 at Lago de Oro resort in Calatagan, Batangas. For more details, contact Rose Aberin of PGFF at Outdoor Sports, tels. 373-0248/373-0743, email: info@pgff.com.ph or visit website:www.pgff.com.ph.
