Colegiala coasts to victory

-
Colegiala scored an expected romp in the kickoff leg of the Philracom Open Championship, outclassing a lean field with a 10-length victory at the Santa Ana Park yesterday.

With jockey Joe Noel Camu at the helm, the four-year-old bay filly by Olympio out of Poco Bruja turned the event into a virtual workout as she timed 1:43 over 1,600 meters to win the top purse of P210,000 for owner AB L. Santos. She had quartertimes of 24’-26-24’-28.

Meantime, Silver Story sets out as the overwhelming favorite in the Philracom Mitra Cup Championship Juvenile Colts Championship, one of the featured races in today’s launching of the Philtobo Futurity Championship.— Ramon Romualdez
