PLDT motocross roars off Saturday

It's man against machine once more as seasoned and amateur riders rev up and get set to conquer the challenging terrain of the BCDA Bonifacio Global City, Fort Bonifacio, in the biggest motocross event of the year -- the PLDT National Motocross Super Series 2000.

The seven-leg series, which kicks off on Saturday, will be held every other Saturday, with the second leg slated June 17, third leg July 1, fourth Junly 15, fifth July 22, sixth Aug. 5 and seventh leg, the championship leg, Aug. 19.

Events on tap this year are pro Class (for national riders), Open Production, Beginner Production, Power Enduro, Dual Sport Enduro, Beginner Local Enduro, Executive Class (for senior riders), Mini Class (14 years old and below), Kids 9 and Kids 7 (9 and 7 years and below). The celebrity category, a regular crowd-drawer, has been scrapped since the celebrity participants opted to join the regular categories.

Organized by Hartebeest Entertainment Corp., the series is sponsored by PLDT, Ericsson, Petron XCS Valvemaster, Nivea Sun, the Bases Conversion Development Authority, Agua Vida, Bench, NBC and Crossover 105.1. All-around athlete and current Presidential Adviser on Youth and Sports Development Richard Gomez has pledged his full support to the series.
