Paul Alvarez hit nine of his 34 points in the final quarter as he powered the Pampanga Dragons past the Cagayan de Oro Amigos, 90-83, last night in the MBA-FedEx Crossover Cup.
In his best showing this season, Alvarez sparked two key runs in the fourth quarter to eventually push the Dragons in the company of Manila with identical 7-4 (win-loss) records.
The 6-foot-1 Pampanga ace more than made up for the sub-par stint of Ernesto Ballesteros, topping his offensive explosion with eight rebounds, five assists, a shot block and two steals.
Over in Iloilo City, the Pasig-Rizal Pirates tripped the Megavoltz with a 78-66 victory at the University of San Agustin Gym as they joined the Davao Eagles in third with identical 7-3 (win-loss) marks.
