The second Erap Cup golf tournament reels off today at the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club with no less than President Joseph E. Estrada hitting the ceremonial tee-off.
The Erap Cup is held each year to raise funds for the ERAP Foundation, an organization devoted to giving out scholarships to marginalized Filipino students.
The ERAP foundation counts respected members of the business community and the academe as members of its board of trustees.
The foundation also conducts medical missions and renders healthcare services.
A field of more than 60 dignitarites, VIPs, CEOs and political luminaries will hit the fairways today in a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
The tournament will be a team and individual competition, with two players per team. The Stableford system of scoring will be used, with the higher score between team members counting.
This year's edition of the annual event is presented by San Miguel Corp., with the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club, the International Container Terminal Services Inc. and ABS-CBN News Channel 21 as co-presentors.
The tournament is also supported by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and Wealth Securities.
Participants will vie for two BMW and two Jaguar cars which are up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes.
The awarding ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Amphitheater of the posh Tagaytay Highlands.
