DLSU, Letran spikers survive

De La Salle University 2 and Letran College kept their quarterfinal hopes alive following a string of victories yesterday on the third day of the third Nestea Inter-collegiate Beach Volleyball tournament at the CCP grounds in Pasay City.

Bannered by the power-spiking duo of Ivy Remulla and Sheryl Magallanes, both members of the La Salle squads that won the last two UAAP volleyball stagings, nipped the University of San Carlos Cebu pair of Maricel Gitgit and Kristal Alfafara, 12-11, for their third straight win.

Laarni Puylong and Abigail Latigay of Letran rolled to their third straight triumph at the expense of Glenda Pintole and Carmela Arcolas of University of Saint La Salle Bacolod, 12-5.

What is left for the two unbeaten squads is to win at least one of their last two assignments to qualify for the quarterfinal round which will be held in Boracay April 28-30.
