Jennifer Rosales failed to sustain her solid second charge and fell by the wayside with a second 73 in three days, dropping to joint 62nd out of the 71 survivors in the Welch's-Circle K Championship, the sixth leg of the US LPGA Tour, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Rosales, whose 68 Friday sparked hopes of an explosive stint by the 21-year-old Filipina in her sixth leg of the LPGA Tour, had a two-under 214 aggregate as she found herself behind joint leaders Annika Sorenstam and Moira Dunn by 12 strokes with one round left in the $700,000 event.
Sorenstam spiked her 67 with an ace on No. 6 for a 202, which Dunn tied with a birdie on the finishing hole of the sun-baked Randolph Park Golf Course.
Pat Hurst fired a 66 for third with a 203, one shot ahead of Cathy Johnston-Forbes (66), Brandie Burton (67) and erstwhile leader Cristie Kerr, who fumbled with a 72.
Over in Japan, Filipino Frankie Miñoza strung up two 74s after a 72 for a 220 that put him 10 strokes off Tetsu Nishikawa (67-210), in the Token Corp. Cup, the Japan PGA Tour's kickoff leg at the Kedoin Golf Club.
