Butiong assumes LL post

The Philippine Star

Lawyer Karlo Q. Butiong has been elected president and chief executive officer of the Little League Philippines, succeeding Lilia Pineda who resigned recently.

Butiong will complete the unfinished term of Pineda, until July 2001. Also elected were lawyers Aries Cariño (executive vice president) and Alicia Devulgado (secretary/treasurer), and Aloysius Gonzales (VP for Luzon).

Serge Bernal remains as district administrator while Filomeno "Boy" Codiñera is assistant district administrator and national tournament director.

Butiong, a former Manila City Councilor, is a senior partner of Ejercito, Yap, Butiong Law Offices. He was also former Intramuros Administrator and former director of the Philippine National Railways.

Butiong said he hopes to form more charters all over the country and increase Philippine Little Leaguers' participation in international tournaments.
