Blockbuster MBA twinbill on today

- Joey Villar -

Davao and Pampanga stake their unbeaten slates against Manila and Negros, respectively, in a pair of explosive matches expected to heighten up competition in the MBA FedEx Crossover Cup today in two venues.

The Eagles hope to repeat their 86-84 conquest of the Metrostars at home last Feb. 20 in a bid to extend their win run to four although they will have to do it at their rivals' turf at the Mail and More Sports Complex in San Andres.

Gametime is at 4:30 p.m.

The Dragons, on the other hand, gun for a follow up to their two pulsating wins as they take on the Slashers at 2 p.m. at the University of St. La Salle Gym in Bacolod.

Like the Eagles, the Dragons pulled the rug from under Slashers, 107-97, when they first clashed last Feb. 27 at the Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, but a change in venue could stymie the bid of the visiting squad.

But Manila, although struggling with an unimpressive 2-2 record, is expected to exact revenge on Davao especially coming off a mean 92-80 scuttling of the Socsargen Marlins a week back in a game which saw the return of last year's Most Valuable Player Alex Compton from a knee injury that sidelined the sweet-shooting playmaker for three games.

Compton, who is expected to get big scoring relief from the power-playing Rommel Adducul, will fill the slack left by two of the vital cogs in last season's title conquest - Celedon Camaso and Reuben Dela Rosa.
