urged to be fair in karate row

International Olympic Committee representative to the country Frank Elizalde and Philippine Olympic Committee president Celso Dayrit told the POC fact-finding body looking into the karate row to give the parties involved due process especially the aggrieved the Philippine Karatedo Federation headed by Pochollo Veguillas.

The POC investigating body has been tasked to look into the eight-point complaint by karatekas against Veguillas who resigned from the national squad a month back.

"We were told to observe due process and not be subjective in the issue and we will abide by that," said one of the members of the fact-finding group.

As this developed, officers of the unified athletes' alliance will attend today's hearing on the karate case to give their support to the karatekas headed by national coach David Lay and Veguillas' younger brother, Salvador.

Southeast Asian Games veteran swimmer Eric Buhain and Bong Coo, Lydia de Vega and Jaime Sebastian are among the officers who will attend today's hearing at the POC extension office in Vito Cruz, Manila.

Veguillas has been invited to attend the meeting.
