Duran's girl also gets into fight game

She with an angelic face, this lady could well be mistaken as a ramp model or a movie actress.

But she's not.

She's Irichelle Duran and her aim is to follow the footsteps of two other daughters -- Leila Ali and Jacqui Frazier-Lyde -- of former world boxing champions, fighting atop the ring.

The third child of Panama's ultimo guerrero Roberto Duran with his first wife Felicidad Iglesias, Irichelle is in the country to cheer for Arnel Barotillo in his coming fight with World Boxing Council International super-bantamweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

Her face a sight to behold, Irichelle grabbed the attention of almost everybody when she appeared with Barotillo's group during the media launch of the Barotillo-Pacquiao fight yesterday at the Royal Palm Hotel.

She said she's here to observe the fight as she's preparing for her professional boxing debut in May 13 either in South Africa or England against a still unnamed foe.

She's with the same stable with Barotillo, who is also joined here by his girlfriend Katherin Buckley and manager-trainer Mark Pitts.

"I'm ready to fight and I'm not afraid to get hit because I'm used to playing soccer," said Irichelle. -- Nelson Beltran
