Airfreight 2100 Inc., the sole licensee of Federal Express Corp. in the Philippines, announced yesterday the appointment of former MBA commissioner Ramon Fernandez as vice president for business development of the top courier service firm.
Fernandez, also the four-time MVP of the PBA, was personally handpicked and appointed by Airfreight 2100 chairman Alberto Lina. He also accepted the position of team consultant of the Laguna Lakers, one of the teams in the MBA owned by Lina.
As founding commissioner of the MBA, Fernandez helped organize the league from a mere concept to the creation and birth of a community-based national pro league. With him at the helm, the MBA experienced nationwide acceptance and following, became a marketing success in only two years.
With Fernandez serving out his term in the MBA, he accepted the FedEx offer and hopes to share his expertise and vision to the company.
