SUBIC -- Defending champion Paul del Rosario guns for his second straight victory as Petron Millennium Jet Ski Series unveils its second leg tomorrow at the Waterfront Beach.
The 19-year-old Del Rosario, a two-time veteran of the World Jet Ski Finals, expects a tough challenge from an equally-talented cast led by 1998 champion John Dee but hopes his powerful Greater Yamaha ski will give him the needed edge in the Open Unlimited 1200 class.
Dee, a two-time World Jet Ski semifinalist, hopes to bounce back from two frustrating mechanical problems that spoiled his bid in the initial leg of this event sponsored by Petron, Johnny Walker Black, Subic Bay Aqua Sports Center, Everest Purified Spring Water, Pioneer Audio Services, Tabata Sports Sandals, Subic Homes, Manila Cordage, SBMA, Subic Yacht Club, Phenomena and Forest Hills Vacation Resort.
Out to stop the two in this event organized by IJSBA-affiliate Jet Sports Association of the Philippines (JSAP) are equally strong contenders Wacki del Rosario, Peter Cruz, Carlo Baltao, Toto Mantolino, Joey Millonado, Arnold Martinez, Ben Sun Que, Ottovon Samson and rookie Pagadian native Rene Pamaran who emerged a suprise winner in the Expert Runabout 785.
Hoping to repeat their perfect runs are Mike Bautista in the Novice Runabout class, female rider Samantha Pastor in the Women's Runabout and Bobby del Rosario in both the Veterans and Executive divisions.
