`Bata' Reyes, Delasin SCOOP Athletes of the Year
Billiard king Efren "Bata" Reyes and golfing queen Dorothy Delasin will be honored as the Athletes of the Year during the annual awards night of the Sports Communicators' Organization of the Philippines (SCOOP) Jan. 28 at the Kamayan-West.
The organization will also enshrine boxer Pancho Villa into the Hall of Fame for placing the country in the world sporting map in the early part of the last century.
Aside from Reyes and Delasin, other major awardees of the SCOOP who will receive specially crafted trophies from Republic Asahi Glass Corporation are Elma Muros (athletics), Don Carlos Allado (amateur basketball), Alex Compton (pro basketball), Benjie Paras (pro basketball), Virgilio Vicera (amateur boxing), Joma Gamboa (pro boxing), Arianne Cerdena (bowling), Gerald Rosales (amateur golf), Jennifer Rosales (amateur golf), Cassius Casas (pro golf), Roberto Cruz (taekwondo), and Maricris Fernandez (tennis).
Citations will also be given to Patricio Bernardo (shooting), Romeo Brin (amateur boxing), Lee Van Coteza (billiards), Christian Gabriel Cruz (ice skating), Donald David Geisler (taekwondo), Magiting Gonzales (special olympics), Jan-jan Hinojales (darts), Agustine Kitan (special olympics), Athena Lee (practical shooting), Alessandro Lubiano (taekwondo), Juanito Magliquian (amateur boxing), Mary Therese Nable (karate), Warren Quiamco (billiards), Jaime Recio (shooting), Jefferthom Go (taekwondo), Aileen Rose Yao (amateur golf) and Dixie Ybanez (darts).
Others to be cited are Bebot Elorde, Mayor Al Fernandez, Joseller "Yeng" Guiao, Clarita Isidro, Janno Marasigan, Adidas Streetball, Asia Brewery Inc., Fil-Estate Sports Foundation, Mandaluyong Oplan Lingap, Manila Southwoods Tennis Academy, Milo, Nike Three-on-Three, Philab, Philip Morris Golf Classic, Philippine Amateur Volleyball Association, Puma Street Soccer and the RP baseball team.
