SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis - Pilipino Star Ngayon

“So my birthday performance made it to 9News website back in AUS! Who would’ve thought my croaky voice would get a feature!

Heto ang bahagi ng report: Sia’s hit single “Chandelier” is notoriously hard to sing, but that hasn’t stopped a Filipino-Australian performer from trying - with limited success.

Born in the Victorian town of Yarrawonga, Anne Curtis is a huge star in the Philippines, working as an actress, model, singer and television host, amassing nearly 8 million Twitter followers in the process.

As the host of musical variety program and game show “It’s Showtime!” Curtis stepped behind a piano to belt out the ubiquitous hit.

What she lacked in accuracy in hitting notes she made up for with passion, her heartfelt performance reaching new heights when she literally swung from a chandelier, as the song’s chorus suggests.

Aided by a shirtless male dancer, she scales the titular light-fitting amid a cloud of mist as confetti falls around her.”

Armida Siguion-Reyna is a multi-faceted icon in the Philippines with notable accomplishments bilang singer, actress, producer, and MTRCB chairman.

Bilang liberal thinker, nanawagan siya sa Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) na i-scrap ang film censorship and lauded independent filmmakers for showcasing their uncensored films abroad. Nakisali pa siya noon sa anti-censorship rally with National Artists including Bien Lumbera, Lino Brocka, and Ishmael Bernal among others – a fearless move that further carved Siguion-Reyna’s name as one of the best industry leaders.

“The book breaks the rules of how traditional biographies are presented, just as my mom has been doing throughout her life. It gives readers an inside view of her private thoughts about her public and professional relationships with behind-the-scenes revelations; her one true love, her fears, her strengths. It’s her backstory,” said Monique Villongco, Siguion-Reyna’s daughter na nagsilbing editor ng libro.
