Boots Anson feeling reyna kay Atty. King!

TAKE IT TAKE IT! - Lolit Solis - Pilipino Star Ngayon

King.

Actually, may isinulat  si Mama Boots tungkol sa love affair nila ni Atty. King na ibabahagi ko sa inyong lahat.

King and I ang title na may subtitle na “With Apologies to Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr,” ang mga bida sa classic Hollywood movie ng The King and I;

“Notwithstanding several titles: Campus Queen, Lantern Queen, Beauty Queen, Movie Queen and Kalimot Queen, the royal title I have never aspired for but which has been offered to me on a silver platter is that of “Queen” to Francisco E. Rodrigo, Jr,’s  “King”.

Today, June 14, 2014, I accept “royalty”  as Mrs. King Rodrigo with all the queenly pride, countenance, faith, love and nurturing that I can master.

Our love story could give the latest telenovela a run for its money. In November 2010, at Mommy Medy Rodrigo’s 96th birthday it began with an “aborted” match, then not “made in heaven” but by meddling, albeit best intended, siblings, relatives and friends. The match, pun intended, did not “light a fire” for these widow and widower, both still in their respective healing stages.

In early January 2013, the unrelenting matchmakers resurrected their ploy and conjure up for King a heroic search for my lost earring at a Rodrigo family reunion that I attended. This was quickly followed by a friendly lunch date where King ordered the waiter “to serve this lady well because I will marry her.”

Again, the match “miscarried”. King was summoned to New Jersey by his daughter Mariol’s diagnosed cancer.

A month later in February, King came back and asked to see me again. But this time I was not ready. No communication ensued. In June, he texted goodbye to announce that Mariol’s bout with the big “C” had turned for the worst and he had to leave again to be by his daughter’s side. Mariol passed on in King’s arms on July 18, 2013. He brought home her cremated remains from the U.S. a week later. I condoled with him at the services. There, our ties were rekindled.

Truly, when God closes a door, somehow, He opens a window. God closed a door for King with Mariol’s demise. But He opened the window for our eventual union at her memorial rites. Then and there, the sparks flew. With Mariol as intercessor, Heaven had finally made its match. God was the ultimate Matchmaker.

The rest is Rodrigo-Anson Roa history. While it resonates with our intense love for each other, it seems with the loving memory and deep respect for our respective spouses, Pete and Olga. Both will remain etched in our hearts as, together, with Christ as our Center, we trek a new and glorious path into our Eternity here on Earth.

Thank you Mommy Medy, for being here for us. Thank you, Daddy Soc, Papa Oscar and Mama Belen, for the inspiration. Thank you to our children, grandchildren, siblings, relatives and friends for seeing us through this eventful day. Thank you Cardinal Chito Tagle, for making sacred in Matrimony, our union in the eyes of God and Man. Our lives as King and Queen have just began.

Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!
