The Road thumbs up sa New York at LA Times

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Nakakuha ng magagandang review ang Pinoy horror film na The Road  mula sa dalawang major newspaper sa USA, ang The New York Times and The LA Times na naisabay sa commercial release ng pelikula sa Amerika kamakailan.

Ayon sa New York Times, ang Yam Laranas thriller ay “tightly written and spookily shot” film at “powerfully atmospheric blend of ghostly encounters, horrific situations and missing-person mysteries.”

Isa ring “impossible to predict” ang plot ng pelikula.

Napansin din ng diyaryo ang simple pero epektibong istilo ng direktor sa pagpapakita ng tamang timpla ng pananakot sa moviegoers.

“Mr. Laranas has no need of crashing chords or wailing musical cues: Shivery and swift, his frights emerge from the simplest of set-ups,” dagdag pa sa artikulo.

Halos kapareho ang opinyon ng LA Times.

Sa kanilang review, sinabi nilang ang narration ng pelikula ay isang “fair job of laying a spooky groundwork for the revelatory emotional sadism that lies behind most acts of evil.”

Obserbasyon pa ng LA Times, “Co-writer/director Yam Laranas prefers protracted enigmas to quick-and-easy shocks making for some slow going on.”

Ipinalabas sa 50 theaters sa US ang The Road at pagkatapos ay isinunod ang Singapore.
