Vice Mayor Joy sisimulan na ang indie filmfest sa QC

MANILA, Philippines - Magho-host si Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte sa pinakamahuhusay na independent films sa isang taunang festival na magsisimula ngayong taon.

Sinabi ng bise alkalde na isinasagawa na ang concept para sa indie filmfest sa isang pulong sa pagitan nina Direk Soxy Topacio, film producer Marichu Vera Perez-Maceda, Orly Ilacad ng OctoArts Films, dating Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Chair Ma. Consoliza Laguardia, isang representative ng Cinemalaya Foundation, at QC 4th district Councilor Bong Suntay. 

“All the creative minds are here. We have many great artists from the University of the Philippines and the Ateneo de Manila University. A lot of artists are here, yet we are not maximizing the potentials of them,” pahayag ni Vice Mayor Joy. 

Apat na artista na naging konsehal ng QC na sina Precious Hipolito-Castelo, Rode­rick Paulate, Alfred Vargas, at Gian Sotto ang nagpanukala ng P8.350 milyong budget para gamitin sa naturang okasyon. 

Hiniling naman ni Vice Mayor Joy kay Councilor Suntay bilang majority floor leader na gawan ng paraan na maipasa ang naturang budget upang magamit sa film festival commission at sa operating requirements.

Sabi ng bise, “This is our way of helping independent producers.”

 Ang QC government ay magtatayo ng isang theater sa Quezon Memorial Circle upang maipalabas ang mga internationally-acclaimed independent movies.
