Septic tank waging-wagi sa cinemalaya awards night

Waging-wagi ang pelikulang Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank sa natapos na 7th Cinemalaya Film Festival.

Ang pelikulang pinagbidahan ni Eugene Domingo ang nanalong Best Film at si Eugene ang nag-uwi ng Best Actress trophy at Best Direction award para kay Marlon Rivera in the New Breed Full Length Feature Category.

Ang Babae sa Septic Tank din ang nagwagi ng Best Screenplay (Chris Martinez) at Audience Choice Award for the New Breed category.

Ginanap ang Cinemalaya Awards Night last Sunday night sa CCP Main Theater.

Ang Babae sa Septic Tank was cited by jurors for its being “a reflexive film that looks with a lot of bite at itself” habang si Eugene cited “for her expert handling of a multi-faceted character, always with tongue-in-cheek attitude.”

Ang Bisperas naman ni Jeffrey Jeturian ang nanalong Best Film sa Directors Showcase habang ang Walang Katapusang Kwarto ni Emer­son Reyes ang nagwaging Best Film sa Short Feature category.

Parehong pelikula ni Atty. Joji Alonso ang Ang Babae sa Septic Tank at Bisperas.

Ang Best Direction award ay nasungkit ni Auraeus Solito para sa Busong sa Directors Showcase category and to Rommel “Milo” Tolentino for Niño Bonito sa Short Feature category.

Special Jury Prize went to Niño by Loy Arcenas sa the New Breed category at Hanapbuhay ni Henry Frejas sa Short Feature category.

Niño was awarded the Special Jury Prize para sa New Breed category dahil : “a familiar story of decline and redemption, of secrets revealed and hope rekindled, done well with a lot of heart.”

Ang Hanapbuhay na nanalo ng Special Jury Prize para sa Short Feature category, was cited “for its humorous treatment of an essentially good provider trying to make an unusual living.”

Wala namang Special Jury Prize ang binigyan ng award sa Directors Showcase category.

Sa New Breed Full Length Feature category, Edgar Allan Guzman won the award for Best Performance of an Actor in the New Breed category sa kanyang role sa Ligo na U, Lapit na Me; Shamaine Buencamino and Art Acuña won the awards for Best Supporting Actress and Actor for their roles in Niño.

Ililipat ang Cinemalaya sa UP Diliman’s Cine Adarna ngayong July 26 to August 5.
