VP Binay awards titles to landless Marikina residents
MANILA, Philippines - Vice President and HUDCC Chair Jejomar C. Binay recently awarded land titles to 65 landless Marikina residents of Sitio Olandes in Marikina City.
These beneficiaries who previously lived in blighted areas in Batasan Complex and along Don Mariano Avenue in Quezon City have now been awarded the titles to the land they are occupying after they have fully paid their accounts in Sitio Olandes Zonal under the Improvement Program (ZIP) of the National Housing Authority (NHA).
NHA General Manager Atty. Chito M. Cruz said that the project mirrors the concern of the government to transform the area into an environmentally safe and productive community. He added that they will now enjoy security of tenure and dignity of being called homeowners and not squatters anymore.
The awarding ceremony was capped by the presence of Marikina City Mayor Del de Guzman, Congressman Miro Quimbo, and various local government officials, teachers of Sitio Olandes elementary school and community residents.
Vice President and HUDCC Chair Jejomar C. Binay stressed that this project is part of the present administration’s commitment to provide lands and homes to a greater number of deserving Filipinos who have long dreamed of owning one and consequently provide them with a better quality of life.
