Audie Gemora napabilib ni Mr. Golden Voice
MANILA, Philippines - Ang theater actor na si Marvin Ong ay muling magbabalik sa restaging ng musical na Sweeney Todd mula sa Repertory Philippines. Sa mga una nang nakapanood sa kanya ay tinagurian na siyang Mr. Golden Voice.
Bago pa ang Tobias na karakter sa Sweeney Todd, napahanga na ni Marvin ang mga mahihilig sa stage musicals dahil sa makatotohanang pagganap niya sa Ateneo’s Blue Repertory production ng Bat Boy noong isang taon at sa Sister Act at High School Musical kamakailan.
Napasama rin siya sa main cast ng Trumpets’ Noah’s Big Ark noong 2004 at The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe noong 1998.
Idol at nagsilbing mentor ni Marvin ang batikang singer-stage actor-director-producer na si Audie Gemora na siyang nasa title role sa Sweeney Todd.
“He has so much faith in me as an artist, so he started including me in several musicals,” sabi ni Marvin. “Direk Audie was also one of those who were instantly convinced that I should play Tobias in Sweeney Todd.”
Masaya at proud pa si Marvin dahil kasama niya sa cast sina Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Roger Chua, Franco Laurel, at ang living legend ng Philippine theater na si Ms. Joy Virata.
