Pinoy handa na sa 'Hollywood Olympics'
MANILA, Philippines – All set na ang papaalis na 28 Filipino performing artists na bumubuo ng Team Philippines para sa 13th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) na gaganapin sa Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, California on July 11 to 18.
Tinaguriang “Hollywood Olympics,” ang delegasyon ng WCOPA ay pinangungunahan nina Philippine national director Carlo Orosa, Philippine associate director Oliver Oliveros, at Kitchie Benedicto ng KB Entertainment.
Ang mga maglalaban para sa titulong grand champion vocalist of the world ay sina Martha Joy (Viva recording artist and Canadian Idol finalist); Evette Pabalan, (Sexbomb dancer and television actress); Mayumi Morales (sister of child actor Makisig at protégé nina Isay Alvarez at Tricia Jimenez sa Spotlight Artists Centre); Rhap Salazar, (ABS-CBN Little Big Star Brightest Star); Divo Bayer, (a recording artist based in Los Angeles, California); Keane Andeza at Oreo Vamenta, new recording artists; at Maila Mitra, Nicole Espolong, Melchi Bicua, CJ Concepcion at Mia Sinaguinan, mga baguhang young performers.
Kasama rin ang mga solo vocalists na sina Guy Lockwood and Izarzuri Vidal, and group vocalists Kulay Pikata and Young Voices of the Philippines Quartet. Ang male model na si Bryann Foronda (2009 DepEd Mr. Philippines Youth) ang siyang lalaban sa WCOPA’s modeling competition this year.
Bukod sa mga titulong mapapanalunan, may $50,000 na scholarship sa School For Film and Television sa New York.
Simula nang sumali ang Philippines sa WCOPA noong 2005, limang Pinoy na ang nakakuha ng top prize. Ito ay sina Jed Madela, Cercado Sisters, Reymond Sajor, Aria Clemente, at Catherine Loria.
