Kris 'rumarampa' kahit nagho-host

-

Kasama sa film catalogue ang mga pelikulang Tagalog noong 2007 at 2008 – 102 mainstream and independent feature films, 4 short films and 18 projects in development or in progress.

It was first introduced sa katatapos na 2009 Hong Kong Filmart kung saan nag-reached out sa worldwide buyers and distributors and festival directors and programmers ang FDCP na pinamumunuan ni Mr. Jackie Atienza.

Ia-update annually ang film catalogue.

Ayon sa foreword ni Mr. Atienza sa Philippine Film Catalogue.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), which is under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines, is mandated to “promote and support the development and growth of the Philippine film industry.” It was founded in accordance with Republic Act 9167 and approved by the 12th Philippine Congress on June 7, 2002.

In line with this, the FDCP has various programs that assist the Filipino filmmakers. Tax incentives are given to graded films, festival grants are given to filmmakers to attend international film festivals, a film fund helps producers in finishing their films and a one-stop shop sells the Philippines as a location site as well as helps sell Filipino films in the global market.

While some Filipino films have created considerable interest in the international scene before, the FDCP saw the need for re-introducing the homegrown movies to the world. In this millennium, new filmmakers adopted unusual themes that were not usually tackled joined mainstream cinema in creating vibrant films the country is proud of. Their works have earned praise and accolades from international film festivals.

The Philippine Film Catalogue showcases the outputs of this current generation of Filipino filmmakers. The FDCP is proud and pleased to finally showcase, in one publication, the creative outputs of Filipino filmmakers for the years 2007 and 2008. It is hoped that this endeavor will recapture the magic of yesterday’s successes.

Filipino films have been called “some of the most exciting in Southeast Asia.” This catalogue demonstrates why this is so and why the diversity and dynamism of Philippine cinema deserve to be at the forefront of world cinema.

Welcome to the world of Philippine cinema! We know that these stories are your stories as well.

-SVA
