SHEREE Nagtrabaho Kahit May Dengue

PERUSE ME - Ronnie Carrasco -

For Sheree, mas nanunuot ang kagat ng acting bug than a mosquito bite.

Dito bumilib si direk Cesar Apolinario na gusto sanang ipa-pack up ang sixth at last shooting day ng idinirihe niyang Puntod, his first indie film, noong nag-aapoy ng lagnat si Sheree. Despite for health condition, nag-report pa sa set ang sexy actress not knowing that she was already high on dengue fever.

Sa halip daw na indahin ni Sheree ang kanyang kalagayan, mas inisip niya ang laking aberya if the shooting had to be called off, notwithstanding ’yung gastos ng producer (direk Cesar is one of the two) na nagkakaproblema na nga raw sa budget.

“Since kapakanan din ng mga artista ko ang iniisip ko, okey lang sa akin na i-reschedule ang shooting, pero mapilit si Sheree. Nahihiya raw siya sa crew, kaya I didn’t give her a hard time, puro close-up na lang ang kinunan ko sa kanya, pinag-dialogue ko nang konti, inuna ko ’yung mga sequences niya, then pinauwi ko na siya. Two days later, saka lang niya nalaman na na-dengue na pala siya,” sey ni direk Cesar.

By the way, the film Puntod, based on real-life accounts is Cesar’s second directorial attempt. Nauna rito ang Metro Manila Filmfest entry niyang Banal na nagkamit ng awards.

TV5’s 120-kilowatt transmitting power is an indicator that the revitalized channel is eating up a sizeable chunk of the market.

To be exact, August 9 dakong alas-siyete ng gabi when TV5 went full-blast as it introduced an alternative channel for the viewers to tune in.

More than a month since its grand relaunch, nakamit ng TV5 ang pinakaaasam nilang third slot as far as TV ratings are concerned. In all honesty naman kasi, its CEO Chris Sy did not have any delusions of grandeur na mapapantayan, much less mauungusan ang dalawang giant networks na GMA 7 at ABS-CBN.

To be in this continually competitive industry ay sapat na para sa pamunuan ng TV5. After all, confident ang naturang channel that it has what it takes to attract viewers via its well-conceptualized programs enough to give local TV a different landscape.

Myself a GMA/QTV talent, na naiimbitahan din ng ABS-CBN to its events, it’s certainly welcome news to know that the local TV industry is so much alive.
