Step aside, Jennifer Lopez, here comes the real J-lo as in Jun Lozada!

Way past midnight (bale Sunday na ’yon) when Korina Sanchez and Ricky Carandang’s Harapan (The Jun Lozada Exposé) on ANC staged what may be considered as spectacle TV. Nasa panel ang anim na tao – tatlo in support of Mr. Lozada, tatlo na bumabatikos sa kanya led by former Comelec Chairman Ben Abalos while J-Lo was on remote broadcast.

I would not go into the details of the discussion, sapat nang na-achieve ng naturang programa ang kanilang goal, true to its very title. I would rather dwell on Mr. Abalos’s parting shots as he likewise took potshots at his nemesis who used to eat at his daughter’s burger house right within a posh village in Metro Manila.

The way Mr. Abalos kasi pronounced the food stuff that J-Lo used to drool over: “Bor-jer (burger).” And if any speech professor were still awake at that time, surely, isa lang ang sasabihin nito kay Abalos: Go get a crash course under DepEd Secretary Romulo Neri.

Transfiguration was the theme of the homily in the thanksgiving mass that preceded last Sunday’s victory party hosted by GMA Films and Regal Entertainment. Held at Mother Lily’s Imperial Palace Suites, the event was a celebration of the box office success of the two studios’ Valentine offering, and My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend.

And speaking of transfiguration, kakaiba rin kasing anyo ang romantic comedy ang tema ng naturang pelikula that for the first four days since it opened last week, it has grossed P50 million. Annabelle Rama and Mother Lily, both seated at the same table, couldn’t be any happier.

But before the mass started, within hearing distance from where I was seated ’yung pinapaksa ng kanilang mesa flanked by a few reporters. Tung­kol sa political land­scape ng bansa following J-Lo’s exposé implicating some govern­ment lumi­naries.

Nakatiyempo akong tanungin si Richard Gutierrez kung ano ang kanyang thoughts about the present political situation. Sagot niya, “I think people in the government must fix themselves now.”

Lest people in government service forget, showbiz industry is a large chunk. Malaking sector ito whose members, mostly artistas, are major crowd- drawers during campaign sorties. I believe that showbiz is not an “a political” sector, it is just as sensitive and clamorous for social reforms.
