Royette Padilla sinumbatan ang ina
What I expected was a joyful reunion between Mrs. Eva Cariño-Padilla and son Royette on Startalk turned out to be a sad exchange of sumbatan specially on the latter’s part.
Hindi pa rin kasi matanggap ni Royette that being a law enforcer himself, pinalabas daw ng kanyang ina na isa siyang offender—both an alleged alcoholic and a drug dependent—who did not deserve to be sent to a rehab center.
Ani Royette, may batas (o proseso) raw na kailangang sundin, that should have begun from solving what he believed was a family problem. In a sense, Royette is pointing his accusing finger at his family.
Paulit-ulit na ipinauunawa ‘yon ni Royette kay Mommy Eva who, in fairness, maintained an air of restraint and sobriety—na kung sa ibang magulang nangyari marahil ‘yon, that would have been the last episode of Startalk seeing a furious mother bashing her son’s head with a microphone!
I felt that there was an “invisible karatula” around Royette’s neck proudly announcing: “Pasalamat ka, naging anak mo ‘ko!” short of saying na si Mommy Eva ang may utang na loob na dapat tanawin sa anak, and not the other way around.

Two consecutive big events ang idinaos ng GMA Films—premier night ng My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend nitong Sunday at the SM Megamall, habang mamayang gabi naman ang pa-send-off party nito para kina Ariel at Maverick who are scheduled to leave for the
Both plucked from ABC 5, ang sumunod ngang tahanan ng naturang comic duo ay ang Siete, kung saan they play important roles in Robin Padilla’s Joaquin Bordado whose pilot episode ay mapapanood mamayang gabi.
Parang gusto ko nang maniwala even in their wisecrack that Ariel and Maverick were hotly pursued by GMA 7 to join the growing list of Kapuso recruits.
One word of advice though: will the two please refrain from delivering their jokes na narinig at napanood ko na sa Startalk, narinig at napanood ko pa sa presscon ng Joaquin Bordado, at maaaring marinig at mapanood ko pa uli in their near-future appearances. Tanggap ko na ang pagiging “sartorial weirdos” nila as their out-of-this-world getups with equally out-of-this-world accessories are what they think can attract the world’s attention.
