Dumaguete Mormons joining 25th Nat'l Family Week event
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Dumaguete Stake, commonly known as Mormons, is joining the nationwide celebration of the 25th anniversary of National Family Week, starting yesterday until September 30.
As part of the celebration, the Dumaguete Stake-consisting of five wards: Dumaguete 1, 2, and 3, Valencia, and Sibulan-together with five branches in Bacong, Zamboanguita, and Siaton towns, Bayawan City, and Siquijor province held a number of activities yesterday at Barangay Tinago in Dumaguete City.
These were the Fun Walk, zumba, morning games, family history, father and son film showing, mother and daughter beauty spa, father and daughter box memories, and mother and son dessert making.
After the motorcade around city streets yesterday afternoon, the activities were Kids Fair training on firefighting, first aid, cupcake decorating, apparel modeling, construction, and broadcasting, among others.
Every year, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints celebrates the family week with the local theme: "Pamilya ang Pundasyon ng Sambayanang Pilipino."
The Mormon church said it also supports the Dumaguete City government's celebration of the National Family Week from September 24 to 30, which is in compliance with Presidential Proclamation 60 in 1992, and Executive Order 241 in 1995, declaring the annual observance. (FREEMAN)
